A meeting of all captains and lieutenants excepting Kenpachi and Yachiru, who are off somewhere is called to talk about the situation, but before they can get anything done, the long fingernails guy interrupts. His name is Muramasa, and he has an announcement to make: All zanpakuto are rebelling against their masters. Muramasa himself is a zanpakuto spirit, who claims that he has killed his own master. Chaos ensues as the zanpakuto use their abilities to destroy large parts of Seireitei, and the shinigami are kneecapped by not being able to release their swords said sword releases being off causing trouble.
Komamura is unconscious after his zanpakuto turns on him mid-attack, Yamamoto is nowhere to be found, Byakuya is missing in action, and Rukia is chased into the world of the living by her zanpakuto, Sode no Shirayuki. Ichigo fights Sode no Shirayuki off, and and he and Rukia return to Soul Society to search for Byakuya and help out in general. Rukia is soon attacked again by Sode no Shirayuki, who declares her newfound freedom, intent to kill everyone Rukia's ever loved, and belief that Rukia's been taking her for granted.
Rukia's emotional plea and self-destructive attack do seem to get through to her, but before she can do anything, Muramasa comes in and sends her away.
Muramasa then summons Old Man Zangetsu to fight Ichigo for him, which probably would have worked if he hadn't completely misunderstood Ichigo's situation. Ichigo's inner hollow of course takes the opportunity to come out and play, and he has no trouble whatsoever fighting Zangetsu plus, he has high-speed regeneration , always a pain in the ass.
Ichigo eventually fights off both of his wayward head-demons, but collapses in exhaustion and Muramasa takes the opportunity to bring the fight to Ichigo's inner world, where he faces off against the Inner Hollow directly until Ichigo finally manages to force him back out. Ichigo and his Hollow then manage to work together to defeat Old Man Zangetsu, who tells them that the reason all the zanpakuto are rebelling is because of Muramasa's More Than Mind Control on them.
Meanwhile, the other Shinigami are facing off against their own swords, and finding that Other Me Annoys Me - at least. Hisagi's blade Kazeshini is a complete Blood Knight who sees his purpose as being to reap lives, and Renji's Zabimaru has no respect for him at all It probably didn't help that Renji failed to recognize their humanoid form at first. Stating he has always wanted to fight Byakuya, Kenpachi attacks him. The two continue to clash, with Byakuya using Shunpo to escape Kenpachi's powerful attacks.
Yoruichi puts together a search team comprised of herself, Shunsui, Ukitake, and Ichigo, with Kenpachi joining after Yachiru persuades him.
When Kenpachi prepares to search for Byakuya, Yoruichi tells him to wait before revealing she knows where Byakuya and Yamamoto are. They head to the cave, where Kenpachi promptly goes off on his own into the cave with Yachiru cheering him on.
As Yoruichi tells everyone to be cautious, they enter the cave themselves. Inside the cave, Yoruichi and Ichigo head inwards before being attacked by Haineko and Tobiume. As Yoruichi takes them on, Ichigo moves forward.
After being trapped by rocks, Yoruichi deduces Haineko and Tobiume are stalling for time. Shitotsu Sansen. Realizing what Muramasa is after, Yoruichi heads further inside. Becoming excited, Kenpachi attacks him. After being separated from Yoruichi, Ichigo encounters and chases Minazuki , who repeatedly dodges his attacks. Surrounded by flames and needing to escape to stop Muramasa, Ichigo tries to break out, but is stopped.
Arriving in the Human World, Muramasa coughs up blood and collapses. When he awakens, he finds Orihime Inoue healing him.
After Senbonzakura arrives to aid Muramasa, Rukia arrives to stop Muramasa. Soon, Muramasa reveals his true purpose and unleashes many large Hollows.
Now, hell, Ichigo goes Bankai instantly and just stays like that indefinitely some times. It was revealed that hollow ichigo is the real zangestu and is the true soruce of ichigo shinigami powers. So that should mean his hollow mask and vasto lorde form is part of ichigo shinigami powers and ichgigo should be able to transform into vasto lorde at will and keep his sanity.

So far so rated: return to canon or the zanpakuto rebellion. Thread starter reiatsuflow Start date Jul 8, Good filler or compromised canon? Total voters Which would you rather be watching week to week?
The zanpaktou tales was plenty entertaining week to week and the same can't always be said for canon. The zanpakuto tales also had a number of really well animated episodes, including the first half dozen and climactic battle with byakuya. But canon is canon and every now and again it still delivers.
Any takers? Zeromatrious Noah of Agony. The Zanpakuto Rebellion. I do not care what people say about filler, I truly think that the Zanpakuto filler arc had to be one of the best in Bleach, and was far more entertaining that what we're getting now. It as well animated, had great music, and was just something fresh and original.
I'm not saying that what we're getting now is bad, but just that I'd prefer the ZR Arc. The anime seriously needs to take a break. It has to. There is nothing to the episodes any more, and they're dragging it out far too much. They need to take a break, come back to it sometime in the future, and then deliver some well-animated and decently paced episodes. One of my buds doesn't read manga and loves bleach, but he only watches the anime. Ever since the soul society arc ended he's relied on me to help him skip filler and skim extended content.
He's not a purist since he never reads the manga- he just noticed how bad most filler is and doesn't enjoy watching it. He recently started watching the four pillars arc and asked me to help guide him through manga content, which I did, with exception to episodes like hisagi v findor because the content there was good all around.
He finished that arc in about two hours.
