How long should a quality couch last

I hired a new company to refinish my floors again in Sept. As they were sanding they realize that they were sanding off oil based Polyurethane and not water.

I specifically asked that company for waterbase. I wasn't there to witness what that company put down with the first coat of finish. I suspected something was not right though, so I made sure I witnessed the final Coats of poly. The final Coats were bona Mega. In my case they used oil poly urethane and covered it up with water poly without proper cure time for the oil. The 2nd company I hired, I purchased the products and everything has been fine until 30 days later.

The old smell is coming back and I'm getting severely ill again. Since July I have not been able to move back into my home. In July and Aug. I had air scrubbers running, I had windows open for 40 days, carbon filters, etc. I never took the floorboards out and that may be the problem that the oil and the water that seeped in, in July, is still offgassing , because it's not cured. I'm going to try a sealer in the floorboards. If that does not work, I've looked into Bamboo flooring.

I'm going to wait a couple more weeks before I decide to rip out my new wood floors. I'm 4 months into this. I can't even imagine waiting a year to move back into my home. You want use that money for your new floors. Actually, the wall is brown. I should also say that the wall at the other end is brown also. Attached is a photo of the other end of the room. The table should be at approximately the same height as the seating, and should be a little less wide than the seat. As the seat gets wider, there can be more difference between them, because you don't want to trap people behind a very long table. Like Home Interiors by Shawn, I have friends in Mexico who would be insulted if anyone brought something to their parties - it indicates that you think the host is incapable of providing everything for their guests.

I hope no one would bring me flowers, as I am allergic to many of them and would have to put them outside. However, I like it when guests bring wine, especially if it is something that they want to drink at the party and share.

I certainly do not expect it and am not disappointed if no one brings anything. They also had better not bring their dog. There are people that I have purposely not invited to parties because I know that they take their dogs with them everywhere. Nothing Left to Say 5 years ago.

Big reveal pics : Took all your advice Spend extra time to find furniture built on a great frame if you want it to stick around for some time.

When it comes to picking a sofa frame that will hold up through the years of rough use, get a frame that is either made of hardwood or metal.

The ancient sofas that you may have seen lurking in the corner of antique stores are almost always constructed from some kind of hardwood. Whether the frame is made from kiln-dried hardwood or engineered hardwood, they are both great choices that will likely outlast every other component of the sofa.

After all, using solid wood is much denser and guarantees a more durable but also heavy frame. To name a few, some of the best hardwoods that you should be looking for in your sofa frame include Oak, Maple, Birch, Mahogany, Walnut, Bamboo and Cherry.

Metal is often overlooked as a material for the sofa frame. In reality, metal is equally durable or even more so than hardwood. To get one that has the highest chances of surviving the ages, avoid sofa frames made from particleboard. They are made from shavings and chips left over from the woodworking process.

Particleboard framed sofas like many of the IKEA sofas are the cheapest and least durable. But they do have their place in homes where the sofa only sees light use. Speak to your friendly neighborhood showroom expert and they might be able to give you this information.

What might not last as long, is the fabric that goes onto the sofa and cushions, which is going to be either leather or some type of fabric. What should you be looking at when picking a material that will stand up to years of wear and tear? That is, unless some terrible accident befalls it. Classy and luxe, there are very few downsides to leather if it is within your budget.

It ages like a charm and is a very easy material to maintain. Just like how particleboard is made, these types of leather are created from glued together leather scraps. Chances are that anything made of this stuff will disintegrate and fall apart in less than two years and ruin the sofa. That way, a wipe-down whenever cleaning is needed and some occasional leather conditioning is all it will take to keep your leather sofa clean, pristine and lasting a lifetime.

Unlike leather, there are many more types of fabrics to choose from. The main factor to look out for in a fabric is its Wyzenbeek double rub count or Martindale count in the EU. The double rub count is important because it measures how many rubs it will take for a particular fabric to start looking dated.

The higher the count, the longer your sofa will look pristine because you know… the fabric is what everyone sees. A general rule of thumb to picking durable fabrics is to go for synthetic fabrics like polyester, olefin and microfiber.
